Rebecca Purcell

Nuance matters - Intention matters - Energy matters

I live in the space between things. Between artist and stylist, writer and note maker, exterior aesthetic interests and interior explorations. Attracted to the symbolic, finding meaning in objects and everyday experience, I hold the space for radical creative flourishing while planting seeds and shaping enigmatic tools for inquiry,

Actively engaged in reinterpreting the role of aesthetics as a source for reaching hidden recesses of creativity, Rebecca Purcell has immersed herself in the world of styling, art, design, writing, and handcraft for over thirty years. Starting with numerous careers in department store display, she was visual director of the renowned A.B.C. Home during the nineties, while making and showing art in N.Y.C. At the end of the nineties, she left her career as visual director, taking a self-imposed sabbatical to further explore the creative realm. This was followed by free-lance styling and art direction for several design companies, developing long-term relationships with Anthropologie, Lands End, and the Sundance Jewelry book.

Located in New York city and the Catskills, she continues to style professionally while writing, instructing, and creating temporary and permanent artworks.
